Information about Flashtool for easy firmware upgrade:
The Flash tool now tested and working. sample on how to flash the KK Plus in text format below and the video.

or refer to: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=464

1st, you must have the KK Plus with bootloader. KK Plus now factory preloaded with bootloader , you just need to have the serial connection like using the USB Serial or the MKUSB. The Flashtool software available at webstore download section.

(DO NOT MISSED ANY SINGLE STEP or SEQUENCE)
Step 1:
Make sure you have the Serial connection properly loaded. Click on the com port to see the supported Com port number. The Serial pin for KKPlus is Pin 3: TX, Pin 8: RX and Pin10: Ground
Serial from PC --> KK Plus 10 pin port
TX ---> Pin 8 (RX)
RX ---> Pin 3 (TX)
Ground --> Pin 10 (Ground)
(DO NOT apply power to KK board now)

Step 2:
Run the KKPlus_Tool V1.22 (updated)
Select the correct com port as step 1.
Click Open Port (you read Port Open Successful) (Red Text Message)
(DO NOT apply power to KK board now)

Step 3:
Now connect the cable to the programming port, switch the micro switch to boot and power up the KK Plus.
You should see the message telling the type of MCU (Blue Text message) and message saying you are ready to do one click (future) or manual load of flash file (Red Text message)

Step 4:
Now you can click Load Hex File to load the Firmware that you want to flash, example the XXControl or KK etc.
Once you selected the file, it will display the file size info.

Step 5:
Click Flash KK Plus and it will flash the Hex file to the KK Plus.
You will see the page writting counter running and the KK board LED is ON. Make sure Error count is 0

Step 6:
When LED if OFF, it is all Done.
Switch must be back to FC/ON position else you will not have Aileron control

All Done! and you are ready to rock and roll..

Note about the XXController firmware by Mike Barton:
When using the XXControl firmware that support the LCD Menu, you can refer to the Reame file for the setup and the pdf file for the LCD Menu system.

Note from Mike:
something to bear in mind is that the Configuration Menu is active whenever the copter is dis-armed.

The software doesn't know if the LCD is plugged in or not.

So whenever the copter is dis-armed, don't play around too much with the TxRoll/Pitch sticks as you could accidently change some settings

Info on LCD Baud Rate:

If your LCD baud rate changed for some reason, you can refer to the video on how to reset it to factory default or 9600n1 with any terminal software

LCD Baud rate reset (1 min 59 sec)

Or use the flashtool for easy baud rate reset
What you need:
USB to Serial connection
Example is the MKUSB or USB Serial

KK Plus Flash tool, you can download from here.

Step 1:
Connect your USB to serial device and make sure the cable is connected correctly. The RX of LCD should goes to the TX of USBSerial

Step 2:
Click Open Port (after you select the correct com port for the USBtoSerial)

Step 3:
Click on the SmartLCD Reset

You should see a message saying it is successful. The LCD now reset to the default config - 9600 baud rate.

Which firmware for the KK Plus??
- XXController V1.5d is the custom version for KK Plus with LCD output to pin 9 of 10 pin port. Also support the LVA
-XXcontrol 1.4x, KK, XXControl_KR work as normal wihtout the LVA. Unless you can edit the source code to add the LVA routine.

ESC BEC, should I cut the rest of the 5V line and only have one ESC supply the power to the board and RX?
- From some ESC reference maual, it stated if you are using the ESC with switching BEC, you must NOT connect more than one.
- From one of the reading if I remember it is from HobbyWing, it does recommend to have it as parallel and it will double up the amp rating. Please make sure this is the normal anlogue BEC
- If you are not sure, just use one ESC with BEC will do. the board and the RX current draw is very small

Where the RX and the KK Plus gets it power from?
Both are taking the 5V from the ESC

How the Low Voltage Alarm work?
- You must have the LVA code included to the flight control firmware. The XXControl 1.5d firmware already precompiled with the LVA code
- You must enable, calibrate and set the LVA. refer to the LVA demo video for details
- You must have the Lipo +ve supply to the KK Plus +ve pad (the distribution board). the LVA will take the Ground direct from the ESC BEC connection.

The Ail stick not responding, cannot select LCD menu and also cannot do roll control:
- Please ensure the bootloader switch is at ON position
- Please also ensure you have the RX Aileron Channel plug in to the correct pin
